National Charity Partnerships
Marie Curie
In November 2022 we launched our partnership with Marie Curie, the UK’s leading end of life charity. Together we are aiming to raise £15 million by October 2027 to help improve end of life care in local communities. The funds raised by Morrisons will help:
- Enhance Marie Curie Hospices, to create a legacy of hospices fit for the future
- Provide more nurses to deliver expert hospice care at home, so people can stay surrounded by their loved ones and community
- Make moments that matter, so people at the end of life can create precious memories with loved ones
Marie Curie provides vital services to people living with a terminal illness ensuring that they get the care they need, whatever the illness, wherever they are.
Previous Partnerships
Together For Short Lives February 2022 - October 2024
Together for Short Lives is the only charity supporting the UK’s 54 children’s hospices and families facing the heartbreak that their child will die young. It supports 99,000 families in the UK as well as the children’s hospices that provide them with vital care.
The £10.7 million raised through our partnership helped to provide 215,685 hours of children’s hospice care; it allowed 6,223 seriously ill children and their family members to create cherished memories through our making memories grants, funding parties, keepsakes, and special outings. We also provided 29 children’s hospice across the country with a Morrisons Building a legacy together grant so they could complete vital renovations and acquire new equipment.
Young Lives vs Cancer February 2017 - February 2022
Our partnership with Young Lives vs Cancer (formerly CLIC Sargent), raised £18.4 million in 5 years. The money raised helped families with the financial costs of cancer through a grants programme, funded a team of Community Nurse Educators, and enabled more families to access ‘Homes from Home’, free accommodation close to hospital. for families who have a child going through cancer treatment.
In the final year of the partnership, we also funded the purchase, renovation and future five-year running costs of Jack’s House, a new Young Lives vs Cancer Home from Home in Manchester. Jack’s House is named after Jack Thompson, a 14 year-old who was diagnosed with a brain tumour as a baby that has left him partially sighted.
