Morrisons is bringing back cardboard boxes to checkouts at all its UK stores with the storage items being free for all customers to take home and use.
The service has been rolled out nationwide after listening to customers who wanted them to make a comeback. Boxes that would otherwise have been recycled will now be available at checkouts for free and be given a second life.
Morrisons has reintroduced the traditional shopping experience to help customers carry all their goods home without the need of purchasing a bag.
Cardboard boxes have always been available at Morrisons stores for customers that ask, but the new move makes them more visible as a reminder for customers that may have forgotten their bag and more accessible as they are handily at all checkouts.
Jen Price, Customer Insight Director at Morrisons, said: “Bringing back cardboard boxes at all our stores provides customers with a convenient and cost-effective solution for getting their shopping home. We have listened to our customers who have asked for boxes to be made available again as they find them helpful to take home their shopping in.”
