Monday 5th September will see Morrisons launch Year Four of Let’s Grow.
The Morrisons Let’s Grow programme is supported by celebrity gardener Diarmuid Gavin who will be on hand to give children a helping hand.
Over 25,000 schools across the UK will collect millions of Let’s Grow vouchers which they will redeem for hundreds of thousands of free items of gardening equipment including green houses, potato planters, seeds, wellington boots and tools.
Vouchers for equipment will be given out in stores until 30th October and these can then be passed on to schools who will redeem them for free gardening kit - everything from seeds to spades and hoes to hosepipes!
Morrisons Let’s Grow Schools Partnership Manager, David Hewitt, said: “Let’s Grow continues to be a huge success and shows that children love to get their hands dirty and grow their own produce. It’s a terrifically fun but effective way to teach them how fresh food is produced.”
Diarmuid Gavin comments: “I am passionate about encouraging children to grow their own fruit and vegetables and hope it will encourage many of them to begin eating more.”
Let’s Grow continues to tie into the National Curriculum and also supports the Government’s ‘Growing Schools’ initiative.
To date across the UK, more than 5 million children have had access to a total of £10 million of gardening equipment thanks to Let’s Grow. They have grown 47 million carrots, and collected 11,200 pair of wellington boots, 34,000 watering cans and almost 9,000 greenhouses.
