Shoppers at Morrisons stores across Scotland have learned just how good in season food tastes when the Scottish Government’s Eat in Season roadshow arrived recently.

Food that’s in season has optimum flavour, colour and crunch and Morrisons shoppers had the chance to sample tasty soups, find out what’s in season and take away recipe cards, so that they can recreate the seasonal soups at home.

The roadshow is part of the Scottish Government’s Eat in Season campaign, which launched at Morrisons Hawick on 2rd February before moving on to a further nine stores. The campaign aimed to increase awareness and understanding of in season food and what its benefits are, to encourage people to make eating in season part of their lives, by raising awareness of the benefits of eating in season, with the main benefit being taste.

The campaign website, www.cookscotland.co.uk/inseason, has an in season calendar showing exactly which meat, fish, fruit and vegetables are in season at the moment, as well as meal planners, recipes and handy tips and hints.

David Gardner, Morrisons Regional Director for Scotland, commented: “Morrisons is delighted to support the Scottish Government’s Eat in Season campaign which is encouraging people to learn more about the food that they eat and discover the benefits of eating in season.”
