Morrisons introduce fresh 1% fat milk

We all know it’s important to cut down on saturated fat, but it’s not always easy to make better health choices and still get great tasting food.

Due to popular demand from health conscious shoppers, Morrisons has come up with a solution by introducing new fresh British milk with only 1% fat. The milk, which contains almost half the saturated fat of semi-skimmed milk, has been launched into stores this week.

Whilst dairy products like milk are important in a balanced diet, choosing lower fat alternatives is an easy way to cut down on this saturated fat. The milk will be sold alongside fresh British skimmed, semi skimmed and whole milk products, offering even more choice for consumers wanting a healthy balanced diet.

If you are currently using whole or semi-skimmed milk, 1% fat milk will give a similar taste and retains the same amount of calcium and vitamin B 12 as higher fat milks. The levels of fat in 1% fat milk sit between semi-skimmed (1.8% fat) and skimmed milk (0.1% fat), so swapping to 1% fat milk can make a big difference to your fat intake over time, especially if like most people you enjoy milk in your tea everyday.

Tim Wykes, Fresh Milk Buyer for Morrisons, comments: “Supplied by British dairy farmers, the new fresh 1% fat Milk for Morrisons provides our customers with yet more choice from the quality British produce they come to expect at Morrisons.”

1% Fat Milk is priced from £1.34 and available in all stores nationwide now, in a 2 litre bottle. Please check your local store for further details.
