As Morrisons keeps track of its weekly Christmas sales, this week’s top sellers show that British shoppers are spreading the expense of the festive season and have started feathering their nests, filling the larder and topping up the freezer with festive essentials.


Now with one week to go until the big day, savvy shoppers are buying stuffing, pigs in blankets and tinsel by the trolley-load.

• Sales of stuffing are up 10% vs. the same period last year
• Sales of pigs in blankets are up 17% vs. the same period last year
• And finally Morrisons has sold nearly 26,000 units of tinsel, Showing how the traditional decoration is enjoying a nostalgic return

Morrisons Group Commercial Director Richard Hodgson comments: “Despite the bad weather across the UK this week, our shoppers are obviously planning ahead and buying the items that they can put either in their cupboards or the freezers, as well as items that will help make the home cosy for Christmas.”
