In just two years, we’ve helped to create more than 2.5 million meals for those in need, by partnering with FareShare to redistribute surplus food in our manufacturing sites and distribution centres.
This food is redistributed through the charity’s network of 10,000 charities and community groups, including children’s breakfast and after school clubs, youth centres, hostels, domestic violence refuges, food banks and lunch clubs for older people.
Lindsay Boswell, Chief Executive at FareShare, said: “This important milestone is a testament to Morrisons commitment to tackling food waste and fighting food poverty. The food from Morrisons, particularly their fresh fruit and vegetables, makes a world of difference to charities on the frontline - supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our community.”
Steven Butts, Head of Corporate Responsibility at Morrisons, said: "We are really proud of our partnership with FareShare. Working with our manufacturing and logistics sites as well as Morrisons branded suppliers, surplus food is redistributed through FareShare's network of charities to those who need it most. This milestone represents the continued hard work and efforts of FareShare's volunteers and our site colleagues."
