Morrisons gives London’s top restaurants a run for their money

1 in 3 (31%) women would prefer their loved ones to save money this Valentine’s day by cooking a romantic meal at home, a poll by Morrisons reveals today.

Partners across the UK can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing they won’t have to ‘splash the cash’.  Cooking a restaurant quality meal at home for two, a la Morrisons can save you over £200 compared to top London restaurant prices.

Morrisons has put together the perfect ‘Value-tine’s’ menu based on items available at some of the finest eateries in the UK.  However, Morrisons gives you much more ‘bang for your buck’.

The menu kicks off with a mood-enhancing starter of a dozen oysters similar to those found at The Wolseley, traditional steak and chips with green beans, famous at The Ivy, then comforting rice pudding and cheese board a la Le Caprice.

Morrisons is offering this handsome feast for just £9 a head.  Plus even with the addition of four different wines, the bill is still only £20.71 (just £10 a head), a snip compared to the £269.75 you could expect to pay at these top London restaurants and what’s more, you will have plenty of food and wine leftover to enjoy over the Valentine’s weekend.

Martyn Jones, Morrisons’ Group Trading Director, comments: “Our customers are feeling the pinch due to the credit crunch, but still want to treat loved ones to a deliciously fresh meal, prepared from the best quality ingredients.  It’s great that we can offer great value alternatives to dishes served in top London restaurants.  We are passionate about British food and so have purposefully based this menu on some of the finest produce the UK has to offer.  Our Oysters come from the sea waters of the West Coast of Scotland and our rib eye steaks are 100% British.  Who could ask for anything more?”
