At Morrisons we understand that good food starts with good farming. We are closer to source than any other supermarket, dealing direct with farmers and growers. All Morrisons-branded fresh meat is 100% British, along with all of the meat sold from our in-store butchers’ counters, and home-grown fruit and vegetables wherever possible: a vote of confidence in our farmers.
Unlike other major food retailers we buy whole crops and animals direct from farmers, which is how they want to do business. Owning our own manufacturing sites and pack houses enables us to utilise the whole carcase and all of the crop, meaning farmers get a fair price and are left with nothing to offload.
We are farmers ourselves, running a 1,000 acre beef and sheep operation in Scotland. The Morrisons Farming Programme is investing in research to promote profitable and responsible farming. This isn’t about telling farmers how to farm. It’s about working together to maximise value and deliver great food at the right price.
