With every Christmas comes the annual Good Housekeeping Institute search for the best value festive food.

The issue on shelves today reveals that Morrisons has been crowned the 2012 champion with a meal feeding a family of eight people for £2.63 per head.

Institute experts names Morrisons best value for a ‘one stop shop’ based on the basket in their taste test of 11 items from seven stores, containing turkey, stuffing, vegetables, mince pies, Christmas pudding, Christmas cake and brandy butter. At £21.10, the basket bought at Morrisons beat rival supermarkets to the tune of £7.87.

The festive season can be an expensive time, but after another year of economic uncertainty a celebration is certainly called for. Morrisons believes in helping to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy a quality and special Christmas, whatever the budget. That is why the retailer has worked especially hard this year to create a range of products at prices which allow you to create a traditional Christmas day dinner at the cheapest price possible.
